Update on the receipt and distribution of the CARES Act funds

 

June 04, 2020, First Phrase of Disbursement


Bethesda University has signed and returned the Certification and Agreement for the funds and has received access to $111,413.00. A total of $111,413.00 was disbursed from 6/4/2020 to 8/19/2020 via Direct Deposit or a check to 25 students.

 

There were approximately 25 students at Bethesda who were eligible under Title IV to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under the CARES Act. The distribution of funds has been based on an application process and eligibility.  The application included questions relating to certain categories of expenses the student has incurred based on the language of the CARES Act and federal guidance.

 

The applications were then reviewed and decisions relating to eligibility and the amount to be paid were made based on the language of the CARES Act and guidance from the Department of Education. Please note the application is now closed.

 

On 6/4/2020, Bethesda distributed a total amount of $ 64,000.00 to 16 students who had applied for reimbursement under the CARES Act. Following the initial distribution, those students who were eligible, but whose applications were not submitted were notified through email inviting them to submit the application with related documentation to support their expenses.

On 6/12/2020, a total of 7 applications, and on 6/29/2020, a total of 2 applications were submitted, and a total of 9 students have received CARES Act funds, a total of $36,000.00. Since no more applications had been submitted after 6/29/2020, on 8/19/2020, Bethesda distributed $456.52 to the 25 students, a total of $11,413.00. A total of $111,413.00 of the $111,413.00 allocated for Bethesda students has been or has been scheduled for distribution. Bethesda distributed all funds to the students.

Since 8/19/2020, no additional distributions were made. The remaining amount to be distributed under the student portion of the CARES Act is $0.00.

April 15, 2021, Second Phrase of Disbursement
 

Bethesda University has signed and returned the Certification and Agreement for the funds and has received access to $111,413.00. A total of $111,413.00 was disbursed from 4/15/2021 to 10/5/2021     via Direct Deposit or a check to 96 students.

 

There were approximately 96 students at Bethesda who were eligible under Title IV to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under the CARES Act.  In April 2021, Bethesda distributed a total amount of $81,400.00 to 82 students who had applied for reimbursement under the CARES Act. Following the initial distribution, those students who were eligible, but whose applications were not submitted were notified through email inviting them to submit the application with related documentation to support their expenses.

 

In May 2021 a total of 2 applications and in June 2021 a total of 1 application were submitted, and a total of 3 students have received CARES Act funds, a total of $3,000.00. In October, 11 more applications had been submitted, and on 10/5/2021, Bethesda distributed a total of $29,812.00 to the 96 students. A total of $114,212.00 of the $111,413.00 allocated for Bethesda students has been or has been scheduled for distribution. Bethesda distributed all funds to the students.

Since 10/5/2021, no additional distributions were made. The remaining amount to be distributed under the student portion of the CARES Act is $ 0.00.

 

 

October 14, 2021, Third Phrase of Disbursement

 

Bethesda University has signed and returned the Certification and Agreement for the funds and has received access to $312,631.00. A total of $312,631.00 was disbursed from 10/14/2021 to 11/2/2021 via Direct Deposit or a check to 308 students.

There were approximately 308 students at Bethesda who were eligible under Title IV to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under the CARES Act.

 

On 14 October 2021 Bethesda distributed a total amount of $ 280,347.00 to 299 students who had applied for reimbursement under the CARES Act. Following the initial distribution, those students who were eligible, but whose applications were not submitted were notified through email inviting them to submit the application with related documentation to support their expenses.

On 01, November 2021 a total of 9 applications were submitted, and a total of 9 students have received CARES Act funds, a total $8,415.00. Since no more applications had been submitted after 11/2/2021, Bethesda distributed a total of $24,560.00 to the 308 students. A total of $313,322.00 of the $312,631.00 allocated for Bethesda students has been or has been scheduled for distribution. Bethesda distributed all funds to the students.

Since 11/2/2021, no additional distributions were made. The remaining amount to be distributed under the student portion of the CARES Act is $0.00.

 

CARES ACT fund reporting published information on the website and contacted all students about the eligibility requirements and the application process.

Update: June 03, 2020

We would like to share the information about the financial assistance available to you. A portion of the federal CARES Act provides funding to support students and institutions in covering unexpected expenses due to COVID-19. Bethesda University was granted the fund from the U.S. Department of Education. We will start distributing grants to students to meet a need from a hardship developed due to the pandemic this coming Thursday. June 04, 2020. Recipients will be notified via a message to their Bethesda University email account. If you are eligible for this fund. Please apply as soon as possible.
