B.A. (BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION)

Program Overview

    Business Administration impacts many areas of modern society.  The study of business administration is interdisciplinary and includes coverage of such areas as business management, e-commerce, marketing, accounting, economics and information technology.  The Bachelors Degree (B.A.) in Business Administration is a four year program providing students with the key skills necessary in the business environment including essential management skills, marketing, communication, working individually and in teams, and conducting practical business affairs. 

    Business Faculty members include those who hold advanced degrees, professional business managers, and seasoned instructors ready to share their knowledge and experience with students.  Many facets of today’s business environment require knowledge of managerial and administrative skills taught in this program. 

PROGRAM OUTCOMES

Upon completion of the degree program, students will be able to:

Understand the basics of how business works including the role of managers

Gain business skills necessary in the business environment

Be able to articulate administration and managerial strategies

Demonstrate basic knowledge of areas of business including accounting, finance, marketing, business law and other key business areas. 

Apply key business concepts, including ethical concepts, to certain everyday business situations

      General Education:      48 credit hours

      Christian Service:         3 credit hours

      Business Core:             30 credit hours

      Professional Studies     45 credit hours (Business Administration courses)

     A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required along with other requirements.  Students must also complete the program within 6 years of initial enrolment.     

    The student will be grounded with general education courses.  Students will also take several courses from the business administration options to satisfy the business core requirement, allowing them to learn about business concepts that apply to various professional scenarios.  The program is structured such that most courses are taken from the business administration professional studies courses so students can tailor their interest to courses they wish to take under the electives offered.  Concentration requirements are different and professional studies courses are taken from electives in the relevant areas.  Transfer credit may be applied for based on the University Transfer Credit Policy.

LEGAL ADMINISTRATION CONCENTRATION

B.A. (BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION)

    Legal Administration is a concentration within the B.A. Business Administration program providing a solid grounding in legal courses alongside garnering strong business administration skills necessary to tackle today’s legal environment.

    Students are able to tailor their program to take individual courses such as Introduction to Criminal Justice, Business Law, and Wills/Trusts/Estates alongside the requirements to take key legal courses such as Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Legal Research and Writing, Contracts and Torts, Civil Law and others.       

    Instructors in the program are often Attorney’s, Legal and Justice Professionals and/or many hold advanced degrees / professional qualifications. 

    Students will be exposed to a wide variety of legal courses from which can be expected a strong understanding of the legal system and its operation in the United States.  

     

REQUIREMENTS

    The BA Business Administration with a Legal Administration concentration is a 4 year program requiring the completion of 126 units, including general education, theology, business core and legal administration professional studies areas.  There is flexibility to choose amongst various elective legal administration courses.    

     

GRADUATE OUTCOMES

Understand the basics of how the law works, the role of law, as well as understand the importance of secondary legal sources 

Understand how to recognize and identify certain legal issues and how to conduct basic legal research

Examine and interpret basic laws for application to particular scenarios and Prepare certain basic legal documents forms, and paperwork

Understand some key legal theories and apply legal concepts to certain everyday legal situation

Use business administration concepts within legal administration settings

Debate some common legal situations and take a legal position

Apply ethical concepts to certain legal situations

Graduates may wish to seek employment in businesses and corporations, legal offices or organizations, non-profit, and in society*.
